USING SPECIAL CHARACTERS IN PROGRAMMED DIALING SEQUENCES

An Outside Auto Dial or Personal Speed Dial code can store up to 16 digits, including special characters. You use special characters when you need to program an automatic pause, stop, or switchhook flash (which means briefly depressing the switchhook) with the number. Before you program a special character into a se- quence, please read the following information.

If your MERLIN system works in combination with a PBX or Centrex system where you have to dial 9 to get an outside line, or if your system has Dial Ac- cess to Line Pools, you should program a pause after the 9 or access code in a programmed dialing sequence.

When you use an alternate long distance service, you program one Outside Auto Dial button for the special service number and a separate Outside Auto Dial but- ton for each person you use the service to call.

When using an Outside Auto Dial button or a Personal Speed Dial code with a stop, resume the dialing sequence by touching the Outside Auto Dial button or dialing the Personal Speed Dial code again.
