Using the System Setup Program
NOTICE: Dell recommends that you change the system setup program set-
tings only when absolutely necessary. Changing certain system device
settings could cause hardware conflicts.
You can use the system setup program to:
Change your system configuration information after you add, change, or remove
hardware connected to or installed inside your computer
Verify information about your current computer configuration, such as the amount
of system memory
Set or change selectable settings—for example, the system pass word
NOTE: When your computer is running the Microsoft Windows 98
Second Edition operating system, certain Control Panel sett ings override system
setup program settings. For more information, see “Power Menu” found later in
this appendix.

Accessing the System Setup Program

NOTICE: To avoid data loss, save and close any open file s and exit any
open application programs before you acc ess the system setup program.
To access the system setup program, turn on the computer and press <F2> as soon
as you see the Dell logo.
NOTE: The computer restarts automatically when you exit the system setup program.

Power
Boot
Exit
