Removing an iDRAC6 Enterprise Card

WARNING: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. Before you begin this procedure, review the safety instructions that came with the system.

1Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

2If present, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the iDRAC6 enterprise card connector on the system back panel. See Figure 1-4.

3Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 82.

4Remove the system board shroud. See "Removing the System Board Shroud" on page 105.

5Remove the VFlash media card (if installed) from the iDRAC6 enterprise card. See "Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 6 (iDRAC6) Express Card (Optional)" on page 107.

6Remove the iDRAC6 Enterprise card:

aPull back slightly on the two tabs at the front edge of the card and gently lift the front edge of the card off of the retention standoffs.

As the card releases from the standoffs, the connector under the card disengages from the system board connector.

bSlide the card away from the back of the system until the RJ-45connector is clear of the back panel, then lift the card out of the system.

7Replace the plastic filler plug over the port at the system back panel.

See "Back-Panel Features and Indicators" on page 17 for the port location.

8Replace the system board shroud. See "Installing the System Board Shroud" on page 106.

9Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 83.

10Reconnect the system and peripherals to their power sources, and turn them on.
