Table 10.11: BGP4 Route-Attribute Entries Information (Continued)

This Field...

Displays...

Next Hop

The IP address of the next hop router for routes that have this set of

attributes.

Metric

The cost of the routes that have this set of attributes.

Origin

The source of the route information. The origin can be one of the

following:

• EGP – The routes with this set of attributes came to BGP through

EGP.

• IGP – The routes with this set of attributes came to BGP through

IGP.

INCOMPLETE – The routes came from an origin other than one

of the above. For example, they may have been redistributed

from OSPF or RIP.

When BGP4 compares multiple routes to a destination to select the

best route, IGP is preferred over EGP and both are preferred over

INCOMPLETE.

Originator

The originator of the route in a route reflector environment.

Cluster List

The route-reflector clusters through which this set of attributes has

passed.

Aggregator

Aggregator information:

AS Number shows the AS in which the network information in the

attribute set was aggregated. This value applies only to

aggregated routes and is otherwise 0.

Router-IDshows the router that originated this aggregator.

Atomic

Whether the network information in this set of attributes has been

aggregated and this aggregation has resulted in information loss.

• TRUE – Indicates information loss has occurred

• FALSE – Indicates no information loss has occurred

Note: Information loss under these circumstances is a normal part of

BGP4 and does not indicate an error.

Local Pref

The degree of preference for routes that use this set of attributes

relative to other routes in the local AS.

Communities

The communities that routes with this set of attributes are in.

AS Path

The ASs through which routes with this set of attributes have passed.

The local AS is shown in parentheses.
