Removing the Chad

Chad is the waste (fogged paper) that is cut from the lead edge of the paper roll by the knife and deposited in the chad area of the printer.

Open the sheet transport door and remove the chad from the chad area several times each day to prevent paper jams and ensure the proper movement of paper from the printer to the processor. Also, check the knife and remove any small strips of chad.

IMPORTANT: The chad should also be removed from the chad area every time a new roll of paper is loaded into the printer.

Calibrating the Printer

Calibrate the printer after every 8 to 10 hours of operation or when you change paper emulsions.

NOTE: If the environmental temperature changes more than 5o Fahrenheit

(3o Celsius) since the printer was last calibrated, a calibration will be necessary to maintain the image quality of the prints.

Follow the instructions for calibrating the printer. See “Calibrating the Printer” on page 2-3.
