rentstation appears on the display for eight sec-
onds.
#Ifa PTY code of zero is received from a station
orthe signal is too weak for this unit to pick up
thePTY code, you cannot switch to PTY informa-
tiondisplay.
Selecting alternativefrequencies
Ifyou are listening to a broadcastand the re-
ceptionbecomes weak or there are other pro-
blems,the unit will automatically search for a
differentstation in the same network which is
broadcastinga stronger signal.
!Thedefault setting for AF is on.
%PressTA and hold to turn AF on.
PressTA until AF indicator appears in the dis-
play.
#Toturn AF off, press TA and hold until AF indi-
catordisappears.
Notes
!Youcan also turn the AF function on or off in
themenu that appears with the pressing of
FUNCTION.
!OnlyRDS stations are tuned in during seek
tuningor BSM when AF is on.
!Whenyou recall a preset station, the tuner
mayupdate the preset station with a new fre-
quencyfrom the station’s AF list. No preset
numberappears on the display if the RDS
datafor the station received differs from that
ofthe originally stored station.
!Soundmay be temporarily interrupted by an-
otherprogram during an AF frequency
search.
!Whenthe tuner is tuned to a non-RDS station
theAF indicator flashes.
!AFcan be turned on or off independently for
eachFM band.

Using PI Seek

Ifthe unit fails to find asuitable alternative fre-
quency,or if you are listening to a broadcast
andthe reception becomes weak, the unit will
automaticallysearch for a different station
withthe same programming. During the
search,PI SEEK is displayed and the output is
muted.The muting is discontinued after com-
pletionof the PI Seek, whether or not a differ-
entstation is found.

Using Auto PI Seek for preset

stations

Whenpreset stations cannot be recalled, as
whentravelling long distances, the unit can
beset to perform PISeek during preset recall.
!Thedefault setting for Auto PI Seek is off.

Limiting stations to regional

programming

WhenAF is used to automatically retune fre-
quencies,the regional function limits the se-
lectionto stations broadcasting regional
programs.
