Factory settings are programmed into the Star LaserPrinter 4111whenit is
builtat the factory. Your printer keeps the factory settings forits parameters
inROM; they never change. You can copy them into the current settings or
anyother settings as needed. But the only way you can return to the factory
defaults is from the control panel; no commands do this.
Afew factory default settingsare as follows:
Item Fuetory deftiultsettincq
Emulation HP LaserJet III
Feeder Multi-purpose tray
Number of Copies 1
Orientation Portrait
Font 10-pitch 12-pointCourier (internal)
Lines/inch 6linesper inch
The userdefault setti}?gsare the normal default settings. The printer keeps
themeven when you turn off the power. There are two settings: Mode 1and
Mode2. TheMode 1is thenormal defaultset onpower-up or hard reset. You
can selecteither Mode 1or Mode 2by using [PROGRAM] button in normal
offline mode.
When youturn on the printer, these user default settings get copied into the
initialand current parameter settings.
You probably will not often change the Star LaserPrinter 4111’sinitialset-
tings(sometimes called “session settings”). You ’11likelyonly change them
whenyou want to use adifferentprinter emulationthan normal. These initial
settingsstay the same as the user default settings until you change them.
On the otherhand, your software will probably change the (urrent settings
many times within the same document, with every change of font or print
style.
