4.5.4 Selecting downloaded fonts
Theeasiest way to select amongdownloaded fonts isto use fontID numbers.
When you download afont you make the Assign Font ID command above
thefirst command inyour sequence (see “Howto download your own fonts”
laterin this chapter). After you’ve assigned an ID number to adownloaded
font, you canselect itas yourprimary fontwith thisSelect FontID command:
<ESC> (nX
in which nisyour desired font’s ID number.
If you use many fonts you’ll use that command to select among them. But
what if you prefer tojust use <S1> or <SO> to shift between primary and
secondaryfonts? You want toselect adownloadedfont ID asyour secondary
font. This isthe command to send:
<ESC> )rI X
4.5.5 Font attributes
The third way to selectafont is to simply describe what font attributes you
want.(Remember, selecting afontdoes notmodify afont. Youcan’t getbold
or 14-pointcharactersif youdon’t haveabold or 14-pointfontin theprinter.)
Inlisting the attributes you want, it willhelp you to prioritize them the same
way yourLaserPrinter 4111does.Your printer ranks the various attributes a
fontcan have this way (from most to least important):
orientation
symbol set
spacing (proportional or monospaced)
pitch (characters per inch)
