If you sense some abnormality on the server, carry out the following checks according to the problem that is occurring.

NOTE: Before you check the server cables or expansion cards, switch off the server and peripheral devices. If checks are performed on the cables or expansion cards with the power on, irreparable damage may be caused to the server and peripheral devices.

You can hear abnormal noise or smell foul odours, and hear a continuous buzzer

Probable causes are that something is touching a fan or other moving part, or fatal trouble has occurred on the server. Carry out the following procedure to check the cause of the trouble. If this does not remedy the problem, see “Remedy When Windows NT/2000 is Unusable” on page 213.
