Cleaning and maintenance - Scanner (continued)

Cleaning the Platen Glass and Document Drive Rolls

Perform the following steps daily:

1.Open the Top Cover.

2.Dampen a clean, lint-free towel (600S4372) with platen glass cleaning fluid (Xerox 43P81).

3.Wipe the Platen Glass with the towel.

4.Visually inspect the Platen Glass to ensure that all dirt, glue, and other residue have been removed.

5.Place a small amount of the cleaning fluid on the towel and clean the front and rear Document Drive Rolls. Rotate the Rolls as you clean them to ensure that the entire roll surface is clean.

6.Place a small amount of the cleaning fluid on the towel and wipe the white Backer Roll.

NOTE: The Backer Roll is located on the underside of the Top Cover. The Backer Roll may rotate as you clean it. This is normal behavior.

7. Close the Top Cover.

Cleaning the Calibration Strip

Perform the following steps monthly:

1.Run the Calibration Motor component test with FUNCTION set to GO TO CALIBRATE and MOTOR set to ON. Running this test with these settings will position the Calibration Strip so that you can access it for cleaning. See "Calibration Motor" in the "Main Menu" section for information about accessing and running this test.

NOTE: The Top Cover must be closed while running this test.

2.Raise the Top Cover.

3.Inspect the Calibration Strip.

4.Place a small amount of platen glass cleaning fluid (Xerox 43P81) on a clean, lint-free towel (600S4372) and clean the Calibration Strip.

5.Lower the Top Cover.

6.Press the Exit key to exit the CALIBRATION MOTOR screen.

7.Press the Menu key to return to the READY screen. The Calibration Strip automatically returns to its home position.
