Here'swhat happenswhenyou get a call:

Yourfaxanswersand your messageis playedback. Duringyour message,your faxchecks the incomingcall for the CNG(calling tone)signal that identifies the call as a facstmile fransmlssion"

lf a CNGslgna/ is detected,your fax will receive the docu- mentautomaticallyafteryour messageplaysback.

lf a CNGsignal is not detected, your fax will let your answeringmachine record the voice message of the other parcy.

lf the otherparty is dialing manuallyfo send a document, or if the other party'sfaxcannotsend a CNGsignal,he or she will have to follow the instructionsof your voice messageto send the document(seethe samplemessage on thepreviouspage).
