rAdjusting the fax for use with different types of answeringmachines

Whenyourfax is setto answerthroughan answering machine,firstthe answeringmachinewillanswerthe call. Next,thefaxwilldetectif the calleris a telephone or anotherfacsimileunit:

. lf the faxdetectsa facsimilecallingtone (CNG),it will receivethe documentautomatically.

rlf the faxdetectssilencefor six seconds,it will receivethe documentautomaticallySix.secondsis the factorysetting.TheANSHOOKUPlampmustbe on.

An answeringmachinewilldisconnectthe lineaftera certainperiodof silence.Theamountof timeto elapse beforean answeringmachinedisconnectswillvary accordingto thetypeof answeringmachine.

lf youransweringmachinedisconnectsbeforea facsimiledocumentcan begintransmission,thenthe callwilldisconnect,andthe callerwillbe unableto senda fax on the samecall. lf you experiencea problemwithyouransweringmachinedisconnecting beforeit can receivea document,you may needto adjustthe A/FSw TIME.
