Remote Access Remote Management
Allows you to enable to disable remote management. This feature
allows you to access and man age your gateway settings from the
Internet when you are away from home . To all ow remote acce ss,
select Enable. Otherwise, keep the default setting, as Disable. The
protocol HTTP is required for remote management. To remotely
access the de vice, enter h ttps://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: 8080 (the x's
represent the device's public Internet IP address, and 8080
represents the specified port) in your web browser's A ddress field.
Management Port
Enter the port number that will be open to outside access. The
factory de fault settin g is 808 0. This port must be used when you
establish a remote connection.
UPnP
UPnP
Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) allows Windows X P and Vista to
automatically configure the Gateway for variou s Internet
applications, such as gaming and videoconferencing. If you want
to use UPnP, keep the default, Enable. Otherwise, select Disable.
IGMP
IGMP Proxy
Intern et Group Mul ticast P rotocol (IG MP) is used to esta blish
membership in a multicast group and is commonly used for
multicast streaming applications. For exampl e, you may have
Intern et Protocol Televi sion (IPTV) with multiple set-top boxes on
the same local network. These set-top boxes have different video
streams r unning sim ultaneously, so you should use the IGMP
feature of the Router.
IGMP for wardin g ( proxyin g) is a syst em th at impr oves
multicasting for LAN-side clients. If the clients support this
option, keep the default, Enable. Otherwise, select Disable.
