T
T1 | Type of digital transmission facility that in North America |
| transmits at the DS1 rate of 1.544 Mbps. |
| A T1 tie trunk programmed for S56DATA for use by data |
| calls at speeds up to 56 kbps. These trunks may be used |

T1 Switched 56 | T1 digital data transmission over the public network or over |
service | a private network at 56 kbps. See Switched 56 service. |
tandem switching | The capability of private network communications systems |
| that allows them to direct outside calls from one facility to |
| another facility, rather than just to an extension. Calls may |
| be sent, for example, from a PSTN facility to a tandem |
| trunk or vice versa. |
tandem trunk | An private outside facility (as opposed to an inside system |
| line) that connects two communications systems in a |
| private network and can carry calls to another outside |
| facility through tandem switching. The trunk is not |
| connected to the PSTN. |
tandem tie trunk | A tandem trunk that is an analog |
| providing a single line/trunk per facility and allowing analog |
| transmission of voice and |
| offering 24 channels on emulated tie trunks and |
| programmed for voice or data |
tandem PRI trunk | (tandem Primary Rate Interface trunk) A private network |
| trunk. |
TAPI | Telephony Application Programming Interface. An |
| application programming interface that allows computer |
| telephony applications to be used. TAPI is not yet |
| supported by the MERLIN LEGEND Communications |
