11 Maintaining the HeartStart XLT

This chapter describes how to care for your H eartStart XLT Defibrillator/

Monitor and its accessories. It provides:

Operational checks,

Battery maintenance procedures,

Instructions on loading printer paper,

Cleaning instructions,

Instructions for removing and replacing the carrying case,

A list of approved supplies and accessories, and

Instructions for disposal of the device.

The operational checks described must be performed at the specifi ed inte rvals

in order to help prevent and detect electrical and mechanical problems. The

battery maintenance procedures specified must be adhered to in order to

ensure that your batteries have the energy required to operate the defibrillat or

and deliver the appropriate therapy.
