this value even after you turn off the power, store it using the Macro
Definitionfunction,whichis describedbelow.
Notethat youcan only changethisvalue immediatelyafterloadingpaper.
If youfeed paper,you cannotchangethe autoloadingvalue.
Clearingthe buffer/Allreset
Theprinter stores receiveddata in alarge memory buffer.This createsa
problemwhenyouwanttoabandonaprintingjobandrestart:theprintermay
be holdingmore data in its buffer than it has actually printed, and this
unprinteddatamust be clearedout beforerestarting.Turningpoweroff is
oneway to clearthe buffer,but thereis anotherway:

Haltthe printing programon the computer.If printing stopsimmedi-
ately,thebuffer isclear andthe restof thisprocedureis unnecessary.If
printingdoesnot stop, continueasfollows:
Pressthe (ONLINE 3buttonto set the printeroff-line. Printingwill
nowstop, butthere maybe data remainingin thebuffer.
Pressand hold the (ONLINE )button.
While pressing the (ONLINE >button down, press and hold the
-button. Continueholdingthesetwobuttonsdown.Inonesecond
youwill hearabeep tone signalingthatthe bufferhas beencleared.
Ifyou hold thesebuttonsmore threeseconds,you willhear threebeep
tones signalingthat the printer has been initializedto the power-on
defaultsettings.
Releasethesebuttons,make anynecessarycontrolpanel settings,then
setthe printerback on-line.
Itis essentialtohalttheprintingprogramonthecomputerbeforeyougooff-
line.Otherwise,when yougo backon-linethe computerwill startsending
dataagainandtheprinterwillcontinueprinting,withmissingdatawherethe
bufferwas cleared.
NOTE:If youare using the SPC-8K, Serial-ParallelConverter,resetthe
converterbypressingtheredClearbuttonon itbefore youresetthe
printer.
Selectingtheprint color
Normally,thisprinterprintswithblackeven if thecolorribbonis installed.
