Time and items required

The replacement procedure for each power supply takes less than five minutes. A power supply unit or filler panel is required for the power supply replacement.

Identifying power supplies

Figure 24 shows the location and identification of the power supplies.

Removing a power supply

For the following procedure, refer to Figure 25.

To remove a power supply, complete the following steps.

1.Perform the appropriate following action based on whether the Brocade DCX 8510-4 is operating:

If the Brocade DCX 8510-4 is not operating during the replacement procedure, go to step 2.

If the Brocade DCX 8510-4 is operating and will continue to operate during the replacement, check the power LEDs to verify that the minimum number of power supplies is functioning. See Providing power to the Brocade DCX 8510-4 in the Installation chapter of your Hardware Reference Manual to check your power requirements.

2.Turn off the power switch.

3.Unlatch the power cord retainer clip.

4.Remove the power cord.

5.Loosen the thumbscrew.

6.Grasp the handle and pull, sliding the power supply from the chassis and supporting the power supply from beneath as you remove it.
