Removing the Top Cover and Side Panels

To install options in your system, you should do the following.

To modify the system I/O board, add an option board, or add a removable media device, remove the top cover

TTo add memory or a processor, remove the left side panel

To install a hard disk cage, remove the top cover and right side panel.

!CAUTION

For proper cooling and airflow, do not operate the system with the top cover or side panels removed. Always replace them before powering on the system.

Do not damage or bend the EMI fingers that are located along the edges of the top cover and side panels, as you remove and install them, or your system may not meet EMI requirements.

!WARNING

If you are removing the top cover or side panels after the system is set up, you must first power off the system and all external devices. Unplug the system power cords.
