NIC Security

There are TCP access lists available to restrict host connections with the
device.

Users And Passwords

By default, the NIC supports two logical user types:
root Access to everything within the print server including al l
configurable settings.
guest Ability to list settings only.
Using set commands, other users can be created.
Passwords can be set for each user type. Ho wever , most of ten you w ould j ust
set a password for the root user to protect the NIC configuration. Guest u sers
cannot alter the print server configuration in any wa y.
You can configure a root password on your NIC using either Tel net or a Web
browser as follows:

Using Telnet, set a root password by entering the following commands.
Syntax:
set user passwd username password
save
Example:
set user passwd root your_password_for_ro ot
save
Note If prompted for a User ID and password first, type in root for the us er ID
and press ENTER at the password prompt since there is no passw ord by
default.
