Forms Design

Introduction

P5000LJ Series printers use do t ma trix line pr inti ng tec hnolo gy, w hich permi ts
a high degree of printing flexibility. Dot matrix technolo gy enables the user to
print graphic images, line drawn characters, special c haracters, and multiple
alphabets.
The first section of this appendix lists general spec ifications for continuous
form paper. (Specific brands or types of paper are not reco mmended.)
Adherence to these specifications will ensure the best p rint quality and
reliable operation.
The second section goes into more detail, providing defini tions, guidelines,
and a checklist to use for designing forms that will run smooth ly through the
print station of the P5000LJ Series printer.

General Paper Specifications

This section describes the minimum paper specifications that must be met to
ensure the best printer performance.
Always test paper and forms before buying large quantitie s. Make all
measurements at 20° to 26° Celsius (68° to 78° Fahrenheit) and 45% to 55%
relative humidity. P500LJ printers perform well with forms that meet the
specifications listed in Table 25 and Table 26 below .
Note Printronix conforms to ANSI® Standard X3.96-1983, “America n National
Forms Information Systems for Continuous Busin ess Forms,” and ISO
Recommendation No. 2784, which cover common form widths and depths,
standards for sprocket feed holes and margins, and other basic tolerances.
