copy file {file | running-config | startup-config | tftp}
copy running-config {file | startup-config | tftp}

•file - Keyword that allows you to copy to/from a file.
•running-config - Keyword that allows you to copy to/from the
current running configuration.
•startup-config - The configuration used for system initialization.
•tftp - Keyword that allows you to copy to/from a TFTP server.

Command Usage
• The system prompts for data required to complete the copy command.
• The destination file name should not contain slashes (\ or /), the
leading letter of the file name should not be a period (.), and the length
of file name should be 1 to 31characters. (Valid characters: A-Z, a-z,
0-9, “.”, “-”, “_”)
• The number of user-defined configuration files is limited only by
available Flash memory space.
• You can use “Factory_Default_Con fig.cfg” as the source to copy from
the factory default configuration file, but you cannot use
“Factory_Default_Config.cfg” as the destination.
• To replace the startup configuration, you must use startup-c onfig as the
destination.
• The Boot ROM image cannot be uploaded or downloaded f rom the
TFTP server. You must use a direct console connection and access the
download menu during a boot up to download the Boot ROM (o r
diagnostic) image. See “Upgrading Firmware via the Serial Port” on
page A-2 for more details.
