LINE COMMANDS
password
Use this command to specify the password for a line. Use the no form to remove the password.
Syntax
password {0 7} password no password
-{0 7} - 0 means plain password, 7 means encrypted password
-password - Character string that specifies the line password. The string can contain any alphanumeric characters, besides spaces, and can contain up to 8 characters. The password is case sensitive.

No password is specified.

•When a connection is started on a line with password protection, the system prompts for the password. If you enter the correct password, the system shows a prompt. You can use the
•The encrypted password is required for compatiblity with legacy password settings (i.e., plain text or encrypted) when reading the configuration file during system bootup or when downloading the configuration file from a TFTP server. There is no need for you to manually configure encrypted passwords.
