9. Record the display line amplitude setting as TR Entry 1 (TR Entry 19 or 20 for a 75
Input) in Table 4-1 on page 138. The Average Noise Level should be less than the
Maximum for the appropriate input impedance.
Procedure (501 MHz to 1.0 GHz) E4401B and E4411B
1. Press the following keys on the analyzer:
Sweep, Sweep (Cont)
FREQUENCY, Start Freq, 501, MHz
Stop Freq, 1.0, GHz
BW/Avg, Res BW, 1, MHz
Video BW, 10, kHz
2. Press the following keys on the analyzer:
Single
BW/Avg, Average (On), 3, Enter

Wait until AVG 3 is displayed to the left of the graticule (the analyzer will take 3
sweeps, then stop).
3. Press Peak Search, and record the marker frequency next to your analyzer model in the
Measured Frequency column as entry (c) in Table4-1 on page 138 for 501 MHz to 1.0
GHz.
4. Press the following keys on the analyzer:
Sweep, Sweep (Cont)
BW/Avg, Average (Off)
BW/Avg, Res BW (Auto)
Video BW (Auto)
SPAN, 50, kHz
FREQUENCY
5. Press Center Freq. Set the center frequency of the analyzer to the frequency recorded in
the Measured Frequency column as entry (c) in Table4-1 on page 138 for 501 MHz to
1.0 GHz.
6. Press the following keys on the analyzer:
BW/Avg, Res BW, 1, kHz
Video BW, 30, Hz
Single
Wait for the sweep to finish.
7. Press the following keys on the analyzer:
Display, Display Line (On)
