Connecting an additional monitor

You can connect two monitors to your computer without installing an additional card. See the instructions that came with your monitor and “Connecting a Monitor” in Chapter 1.

When you connect an additional monitor:

mMake sure that the ventilation openings on the computer and the monitors are clear and unobstructed.

mIf there is interference on your screens or on a television or radio near your Macintosh, separate or reposition the affected equipment.

Connecting a trackball or other input device

Your computer has an Apple Desktop Bus (ADB) port, which you use to connect the mouse, the keyboard, and other input devices such as a trackball, a bar-code reader, or a graphics tablet.

You can connect up to three ADB devices in a chain to a single port. The exact number depends on how much power the devices require.

IMPORTANT The total power used by all ADB devices connected to your Macintosh must not exceed 500 milliamperes (mA). Information about the power requirements of the mouse and keyboard are in the Technical Information booklet that came with your computer. Check the information that came with your other ADB device for power requirements.
