Connecting to an Ethernet network

You can connect an adapter and cable for an Ethernet network directly to the computer, without installing an expansion card.

The Ethernet port is identified with this symbol: G.

To connect a cable to the Ethernet port, follow the instructions that came with the Ethernet adapter you want to use. If you need assistance, consult a network administrator or other technical expert.

Once you’ve connected to an Ethernet network, you need to choose Ethernet in the Network control panel. See the networking chapter of the Macintosh Reference for instructions.

Connecting to a Token Ring network

By installing the appropriate expansion card, you can connect your Macintosh to a Token Ring network. Consult the documentation for your Token Ring expansion card and software for instructions.
