Close other programs. If a DVD movie is jumpy or drops frames, other tasks may be causing the problem. Many programs display an icon on the Windows taskbar.
Ensure that a current version of DirectX is installed. Very generally, DirectX is an interface between applications and games and the drivers that run your graphics, sound and other hardware. PC Check tests DirectX (see To access PC Check on page 6.)
