Configuring a Serial or Voice Port
Before configuring a physical port, make sure that the following have been properly
configured:
Node par amet er s. See Ch a pter 4. This is general configuration that must be done
no ma tter w hich pro tocols wil l be r un in th e nod e.
Protocol(s) that will be transmitted over th e physical port and any logical p orts
on the ph ysical por t. See Chapt er 5.
Once these necessary records have been config ured, pres s [A] (Configu ration ), th en [C]
(Configure Ports), then [A] from the Main M enu. W hen p rompte d, en ter a port nu mber
in the range 0–7 (noting the port descriptions following Figure 6-1 and Figure 6-2).
(Pressing [Enter] without entering a number will accept the default of 0).
Voice ports can also be configured in Voice Application Configuration
([A], [C], [D] from the Main Menu) . Also, r emember that Vo ice port 1 is con -
figured in the database as port 4, and Voice port 2 is configured as port 5.
The display for an existing record will show the configured parameter values, while
the display for a new record will show values stored in a default database record. The
following figure is an example of a new record.
