is a nam e gi ven to the asy nc PA D 's "profile." If login is not required (as determined in
the Port record), the profile specified in Port record is always in effect. If login is
required, the profile specified in the PAD Login record becomes effective at login,
even if it is different from the profile specified in the Port record.
If the profile specifi ed is not defined in the database, the d efault profile, 90, will b e in
effect. (See "Configuring Async PAD Profiles" on page 12-2.)
Configuring Async Port Records
Once the necessary Node, Line Processor, and protocol parameters have been con-
figu re d , press [A] at the Port Conf ig ur a t ion Menu (o r [A], [C], [A] from the Main Menu.
When prompted , ent er a port nu mb e r (or pres s [Enter] to accept the def ault o f 0). Valid
port numbers depend on the model of SmartSwitch 1800—see port locations on
page 6-1.
The display for an existing port will show the configured parameter values, while the
display for a new port will show d efault database values. (S ee Table 12-3 on page 12 -
9.) The following figure is an example of an existing port.

If a record does not exist for the async PAD profile identified by Initial
Profile Name, the letter U will be displayed preceding the name in the
Database column.
After making any changes, be sure to press [F7] to up date the
system memory. Otherwise, the changes will not take effect until
the next re-boot of the SmartSwitch 1800.
