The example also shows the popular method. The whole scale of the potentiometer can be used as desired. In addition to signals of 0 to 10V and4 to 20mA, the popular voltage signals also include signals of 0 to 5V, 20 to 4mA or that under 10V. Regarding the setting, please refer to the following examples.

This example shows a potentiometer range of 0 to 5 Volts.

Example 5:

In this example a 1 volt negative bias is used. In a noise environment, it is advantageous to use negative bias to provide a noise margin (1V in this example).
