5.4.2.1Preparations
Before you update BIOS, record the current BIOS settings, obtain the utility, and make a copy of the current BIOS.
Recording the current BIOS settings
ÊStart the server and press [ when the following message is displayed on the screen:
nTdIV rcstn
ÊWrite down the current settings from the BIOS Setup program.
I Do not skip set 2. You will need these settings to configure your computer at the end of the procedure.
Creating bootable floppy disks
ÊUse a DOS or Windows 95 system to create the floppy disk.
ÊInsert the disk in drive A.
ÊAt the C:\ prompt, enter the following for an unformated floppy disk:
RE
or the following for a formated floppy disk:
ÊPress Ú.
ÊCopy the flash files generated as described in section “BIOS and firmware update” on page 70 to your bootable floppy disks.
