Cleaning the Charge Wire

The charge wire requires cleaning when printouts appear dirty.

RCAUTION:

•When accessing the inside of the machine, do not touch any sections other than those specified in this manual. If you do, it might result in receiving a burn or injury.

•Do not open the front cover when the paper tray is pulled out halfway. If you do, it might cause a personal injury.

A Press the printer's power switch to turn off the power.

B Open the front cover and the top cover.

❒If the printer is equipped with the paper feed unit (optional) and the duplex unit (optional), first open the upper portion of the duplex unit, and then open the top cover of the printer.

C Raise the green lock levers to a vertical position.

D Hold the inset grip of the photo- conductor unit, pull it straight up, and remove it from the printer.

Important

❒Exposing the photoconductor unit to light for too long can re- duce its performance. Clean the charge wire as quickly as possi- ble.
