Configuring a Static Route to an NMS on each DSL Card
Use this procedure to enable the management traffic from the 8546 DSL cards or
5446 RTUs to be routed back through the MCC.
Procedure
To configure a static route to an NMS on each DSL card:
1. Select
Configuration
IP Router
Static_Routes
(A-E-A)
.
2. Press Return on the Item 0 field to add a new record.
3. Enter values for the following fields and press Return after each entry:
Field Description Input
Host/Net Destination of the route to
the NMS.
0.0.0.0
to indicate the
default route
Subnet Mask Associated subnet mask
for the specified
destination IP address to
the NMS.
nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
format
Next Hop IP address of the next hop
device for the specified
destination to the NMS.
nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
format
Pref (Preference) Measure of how preferable
one route is to another, if
you have two routes going
to the same destination.
(The lower the number, the
more preferable the route.)
This route is compared to
other routes for the same
destination address.

4. Confirm the save and press Ctrl-z to return to the
Configuration
IP Router
menu.
