Operating Instructions for the Parallel Capacity/Redundant System

10.1General Information --- Before You Start

The following procedures provide instructions for operating the Parallel Capacity/Redundant System.

NOTE: 1. Before starting the Parallel Capacity/Redundant system ensure all installation tasks are complete and a preliminary startup has been performed by authorized service personnel. The preliminary startup verifies all electrical interconnections to ensure the installation was successful and the Parallel Capacity/Redundant system operates properly.

2. Refer to Chapter 9 of this manual for description of SSBM controls and monitor panel functions.

3. Refer to the applicable Powerware9315 UPS Operation manual provided with the UPMs, for UPM operating instructions.

10.2 Operation of SSBM with

Powerware 9315---200 thru 9315---500 UPMs

10.2.1 Initial Setup

1. Ensure the Switchboard System Bypass Module (SSBM) circuit breakers are manually charged and set as follows:

System Output Breaker (CBS)

OPEN

System Bypass Breaker (CBP)

---

OPEN

Backfeed Protection Breaker (FBP)

---

OPEN

Maintenance Isolation Breaker (MIS)

---

CLOSED (Optional)

Maintenance Bypass Breaker (MBP)

---

OPEN (Optional)

NOTE: When power is applied in the following step, circuit breakers CBS, CBP, and FBP will charge, if not already charged.

2.Close upstream UPM and SSBM Bypass input feeder circuit breakers.

3.Observe SSBM monitor screen becoming active and Alarm and Notice messages scrolling.
