Configure the Test System (CONFIG).The C ONFIG programgenerates a table that
describes the test equipmentbeing used and its respective GPIB addresses. The
program also creates a filefor the power sensors, containing the calibration
factors to be used at each frequency. It also provides a means to custo mize the
software to work with a signal generatornot supported by the software.
To startthe program to configure the test system type:
CONFIG<Return>
The main menu will be displayed with the followingselections.
Create a New System Configuration
List the New System Configuration
Exit to DOS
Select Create a New System Configurationand you will be asked to specify the
following:
HSignal source. (If you selectUser Defined Signal Generator, you will be
prompted to describe the generatorfrequency range, amplitude range, and so
forth. Refer to the next topic User Defined Signal Generator).
HPower Meter used.
HIdentification code for Power Sensors. (This is an arbitrarycode of your
choice. Three power sensors areused; select HP8482A for your first sensor,
select HP8484A or HP8481D for the second sensor, and select HP8483A for
the third sensor.)
HPower Sensor calibration factors(in %) from the data printed on the power
sensor.
NOTE. When entering the data, you areask to enter the 50 MHz Reference
Calibration Factor (RCF) first. Then enter the remainingdata, starting with the
lowest frequencyand increasing to highest, including the 50 MHz data if
available.
When entering data (for example50 MHz), type 50e6 or 50000000.
If you wish to examine the configuratio n you have just created, select List a New
System Configuration. This will display the system configuration.
NOTE. When using the HP 438A power meter, connect the 50 sensor
(HP8484A or HP8481D) to Channel A, and the 75 sensor (HP8483A for 75
system) or 50 sensor(HP8482A for 50 system) to Channel B.
