Maintenance
This section describes proceduresfor preventive maintenance, troubleshooting
methods, corrective maintenance, and procedures for recalibrating those
assemblies that normally do not require routine calibration.

Static Sensitive Components

This instrument contains electricalcomponents that can be damaged by static
discharge. See Table6--1 for the relativesusceptibility of various classes of
semiconductors. Static voltages of 1 kV to 30 kV canoccur in unprotected
environments.
Observe the following precaution s to avoid damage:
HMinimize handling of static sensitive components.
HTransport and storestatic sensitive components or assemblies in their
original containers, on metallizedor conductive foam. Label packages that
contain static sensitive assemblies or components.
HDischarge body staticvoltage by wearing a grounded wrist strap while
handling these components. Static sensitive assemblies or components
should be handled and servicedonly at static free work stations by qualified
service personnel.
HNothing capable of generating or holding a static chargeshould be allowed
on the work station surface.
HKeep the component leads shorted together wheneverpossible.
HPick up components by the body, never by the leads.
HDo not slide the components over any surface.
HAvoid handling componentsin areas that have a floor or work surface
covering capable of generatinga static charge.
HUse a soldering iron that is connectedto earth ground.
HUse only antistatic suction or wick typedesoldering tools.
