This section provides some general information on the Agilent J3919A and

J3972A OC-3 ATMProbes.

CAUTION Since the OC-3 ATMProbe repeats the received signal, a loss of power to the probe results in an interruption of the network signal on the monitored fiber link. To eliminate this possibility, you must install the optional Optical Bypass (Option 125).

A typical probe distributed monitoring system consists of the following:
