9.2.2.6 Oper ating Omni View IP 500 0HQ in exter nal
authenticatio n mode
In external authentica tion (LDAP) mode, O mniView IP 5000H Q Manager
will no longer allow log in for the users that were created in local
authentication mode. T hese users will be deleted. New us ers will be
imported from Active D irectory.
OmniView IP 5000HQ Ma nager will validate all user crede ntials against
the LDAP server only.
Only the “admin” account retains local au thentication as a “backdoor”
account. This user ha s OmniView IP 500 0HQ local acce ss. Admin
account is allowed to ma nage OmniView IP 5 000HQ with “admi nistrator”
access privileges. H owever, “admin” is not per mitted to connec t to
targets. This account will allow reversin g the external au thentication
mode at any time to loca l authentication m ode.
There is no direct ac cess to any IP devi ce, even to its Conf iguration
page. OmniView IP 500 0HQ will act as a gateway.
When changing OmniVi ew IP 5000HQ to lo cal authenticatio n mode,
all imported users appear as “inact ive.” To reactivate the user s, the
administrator must set a password for eac h account.
Clicking the “New User” button on the “U sers” page opens the
“Import LDAP Users” w indow.
9.3 Global sett ings
In Global Settings, yo u can change the idle time-out pe riod and set out
global parameters as explained below.
