16.4 replication
You can add a secondary OmniView IP 500 0HQ Manager unit to the
system. The primary u nit then replicate s all data to the secondary unit .
In the event of a failure in the primary unit, the seconda ry unit can ta ke
over and operate with the most up-to-date database.
16.4.1 Connecting t he secondar y unit to th e network
1. Connect the secondar y unit to a power supply outlet.
2. Connect the secondar y unit to the net work as follows:
On the rear panel, con nect an Ethernet cable to LAN 1.
3. Power up the secondary unit.
16.4.2 Configur ing the secon dary unit
Configure the seconda ry unit before c onfiguring the p rimary unit.
Configuration involves ch anging the secon dary unit IP ad dress (so as
not to cause a network conflict by having the same IP addre ss as the
primary unit) and as signing the unit to be the secondar y unit.
1. From the secondary un it, log in to the O mniView IP 5000H Q
Manager web interface . See the “Display ing the OmniView IP
5000HQ Web Interface” section on page 12 to display the OmniV iew
IP 5000HQ web interfa ce.
2. Change the IP address of the secondar y unit to be diffe rent to the
primary unit, but en sure that it resi des on the same n etwork
segment. You change the se condary unit IP address from th e
“Network” tab under “ Settings/Unit M aintenance”. See the “ Network
tab” section on page 95. Once changed, t he unit restart s.
3. Log in again with the ne w network settin gs.
4. From the “Settings/Mai ntenance” menu, cli ck “Replication”;
Figure 100 appears.

5. Select “Secondary Unit”. A field for th e IP address of th e
primary unit appear s.
6. Type the primary unit IP address.
7. Click . The unit restarts in secondary unit mode.
