16.4.6 Primary u nit and seco ndary unit troubleshoo ting
If there is a network f ailure or the sec ondary unit is down, a “Secondar y
unit not responding” no tification appea rs in the OmniVi ew IP 5000HQ
notification area, ind icating that there is a problem co nnecting to the
secondary unit. Se e figure below.

16.4.7 Checking th e secondar y unit
1. Verify that the second ary unit is up a nd running.
2. Verify that the second ary unit is in s econdary unit mode.
To do so:
Log in to the secondar y unit as an adm inistrator. Check that the unit is in
secondary unit mode . If it is not, foll ow the steps in the “Configuring the
secondary unit” se ction on page 89.
16.4.8 redoing th e secondar y and primar y unit conf iguration
Where the secondary unit is verified as up and runnin g, and is in
secondary unit mode , but the “Second ary unit not re sponding” or
“Secondary unit not replicating” notif ication persis ts, do the following:
1. Convert both the secon dary and prima ry units to sta ndalone mode.
To do so:
At both primary and s econdary unit s, log in to the Om niView IP
5000HQ web interface . From the “Setting s/Maintenance” m enu, click
“Replication”. Select “Sta ndalone Unit”.
2. Convert the secondar y unit to second ary unit mode. See the
“Configuring the seco ndary unit” se ction on page 89.
3. Convert the primary unit to primary unit mode. See t he “Configuring
the primary unit” s ection on page 9 0.
The system should now be operational.
