500ml (2 tasses) de farine tout-usage

325ml (113 tasse) de sucre

5ml (1 c. à thé) de levure chimique

2ml (12 c. à thé) de bicarbonate de sodium

2 ml (12 c. à thé) de sel

125ml (12 tasse) de shortening

250ml (1 tasse) de lait à basse teneur en matières grasses

5ml (1 c. à thé) de vanille

2 oeufs

2carrés (30 g [1 oz] pièce) de chocolat non-sucré, fondu

Combinez les ingrédients secs dans le bol du batteur. Ajoutez le shortening, le lait et la vanille. Fixez le bol et le fouet à lame plate au batteur. Réglez à la vitesse 2 et mélangez environ 1 minute. Arrêtez le batteur et raclez le bol. Ajoutez les œufs et le chocolat. Continuez à la vitesse 2, mélangez pendant environ 30 secondes. Arrêtez le batteur et raclez le bol. Réglez à la vitesse 6 et battez pendant environ 1 minute.

Versez la préparation dans deux moules ronds graissés et saupoudrés de farine de 20 ou 23 cm (8 ou 9 pouces). Faites cuire au four à 180°C (350ºF) pendant 30 à 35 minutes ou jusqu’à ce qu’un cure-dent inséré au centre en sorte propre. Laissez refroidir 10 minutes. Démoulez. Laissez complètement refroidir sur une grille. Recouvrez d’un glaçage si vous le désirez.
