Switching from a wired (Ethernet) connection to a USB connection

1Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port of the printer.

2Insert the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on the computer.

3On your computer, do one of the following:

In Windows Vista:

a Click ΠControl Panel.

b Under Hardware and Sound, click Printer.

In Windows XP:

•Click Start Œ Printers & Faxes.

4Right-click the Lexmark 9500 Series icon.

5Click Properties.

6From the Ports tab, select the USB port for your printer.

7Click Apply.

8Click OK.

9Print a test page to test the communication between the computer and the printer. For more information, see “Printing a test page” on page 217.

1Insert the installation software CD for Windows.

2Wait a minute for the Welcome screen to appear.

If the Welcome screen does not appear after a minute, do one of the following:

In Windows Vista:

aClick .

bLocate the Start Search box.

cType D:\setup.exe, where D is the letter of your CD or DVD drive.

In Windows XP:

aClick Start ΠRun.

bType D:\setup.exe, where D is the letter of your CD or DVD drive.

3Follow the instructions on the Welcome screen to set up the printer.
