Customizing Your Phone
To control how lo ng the backlight sta ys on:
1From the main menu, sele ct Settings >
Display/Info > Backlight > Timer.
2Select the number of sec onds you want the
backlight to stay o n.
To control how long the backli gh t stay s on for Java
applications:
1From the main menu, sele ct Settings >
Display/Info > Backlight > Java Timer.
2Select the number of sec onds you want the
backlight to stay o n for Java applicat ions.
To set the keypad backli ght to light up only in low
light conditions:
1From the main menu, sele ct Settings >
Display/Info > Backlight > Sensor.
2Set this option to On.
Airplane Mode—Temporarily Turning Off CallsSometimes you may want to have your phone on,
but turn off its ability t o make and receive calls,
such as when you a re on an airplane.
To set your phone so that it canno t make or rece ive
phone calls, Direct Connect calls, Group Connect
calls, or Talkgroup calls; or transfer data:
1From the main menu, sele ct Settings >
Advanced > Airplane Mode.
2Set this option to On.
This icon U appears.
Note:While powering on your phone, you can
turn on Airplane mode by pressing c for
more than 5 seconds.
To restore your pho ne’s ability to do a ll these
things:
Set this option to Off.
Using SettingsSettings contains many su bmenus that let you
customize your phone.

Display/Info Features
The Display/Info menu controls how the keypad
and display appear:
• Wallpaper — changes the wallpaper that
appears on the idl e screen.
