Using Settings
• Java Earpiece — sets the volume of sound
associated with Java applications coming out o f
the earpiece.
• Java Speaker —sets the volume of sound
associated with Java applications coming out o f
the speaker.
•Data — sets the volume of sound s that notify
you that you are receivin g a circ u it da ta cal l .
Security FeaturesThe Security menu lets you tu rn security features
on and off and change passwo rds:
• Phone Lock — turns on a feature that locks
your phone: Lock Now takes effect immediat ely;
Auto Lock takes effect when your phon e is
powered off and then on. An unlock code is
required to enable this fea ture, to unlock the
phone, and to set a new unlock code. Contact
Nextel Customer Care for yo ur default unlock
code.
•Keypad Lock — locks the ph one’s keypad,
either immediately or automatically after a set
period of inactivity.
• SIM PIN — enables an d disables your pho ne’s
SIM PIN security fe ature. See “Turning th e PIN
Requirement On and Off” on page 12.
• GPS PIN — enables and disables your phone ’s
GPS PIN security feature. See “Setting the GPS
PIN Security Feature” on pag e 13 3.
• Change Passwords — changes your phone
unlock code, security code, SIM PIN, and GPS
PIN.
Advanced FeaturesThe Advanced menu contains adva nced and rarel y

• Alert Timeout — sets the amount of time a tone
continues to sound whe n yo u r ec ei ve a
message notification, call alert, or Datebook
reminder.
• Headset/Spkr — sets head set option. See
“Using a Headset” on page 155.
• Disco Lights — sets the lights in the external
display to light up whe n a musical ring tone
sounds.

• Connectivity — Network ID sets the phone’s
network IDs and their roa mi ng opti on s un de r the
direction of Next el Customer Care; Master
Reset lets Nextel Cust omer Care reset yo ur
