Talkgroup Calls

Using Predefined Talkgroups

A Talkgroup is a p redetermined group that has
been provisioned by Ne xtel or an account
administrator. Talk groups are limited by net work
(fleet) and local market s . The y can accomodate
groups up to 100 members in th e loc a l mar ket.
Before you can make or receive Talkgroup calls, a
Talkgroup must be established. After the Talkgroup
is established, you mus t join the Ta lkgroup.

Joining a Talkgroup

When you enable security, you rece ive a list of
Talkgroups that h ave been set up for y ou if you
subscribe to this service. The Talkgroup list is
saved to Contacts.
To receive Talkgr oup calls made to any of these
Talkgroups, you must join the Talkgroup.
1From the main menu, sele ct Contacts.
2Scroll to the Talkgroup you want to join.
3Press A under Join.
Note:You will now be able to receive
communications fro m thi s Talkgrou p onl y.
You can only monitor one Talkgroup at a
time.

Setting Up More Talkgroups

You can set up more Talkgroups in 3 ways:
•Using Talkgroup Management* on MyNextel at
nextel.com
* You must be an account administrator to use Talkgroup
Management.
•Contacting your Nextel Sales Representative at
the time of activation
•Using Wireless Mana ger t o cr ea te, ma na ge, an d
delete Talkgroups
When you create your Talkgroups, you can select
your own Talkgroup numbers.
You can join a ne w Talkgroup by pres sing # and
entering the number using the keypad. Then press
A under Join.

Making Talkgroup Calls

1Press #. Then enter the Talkgroup number
using the keypad. -or-
Choose the Talkgro up name from Contac ts or
the recent calls list.
2Proceed as if making a Direct Connect call.
