Off-Network Walkie-Talkie

Direct Talk is an a ll-digital, off-network walkie-talkie
service that works anywhere, anytime between
compatible phones . You can make and r eceive
Direct Talk calls outside of network coverage or
when network serv ice is not available* . You can
talk to anyone on your code and channel who has
a Direct Talk-capable phone. Direct Talk has a
range up to 6 miles.
* Terrain, weather, foliage, and man-made structures (such as
buildings), among other things, may impact range availability.
In-building usage may significantly reduce Direct Talk range.
Direct Talk is not approved for use in all countries. Please check
local laws before using outside of the United States.
Direct Talk allows you to:
Make group or private Dir ect Talk calls
Use up to 10 channels and 15 codes
Note:D irect Talk is only compatible wi th other
Direct Talk-capable units.
The following features and main menu items will
not be available while in Direct Talk mode:
on-network phone calls; Direct Connect calls,
Group Connect calls, Ta lkgroup calls; Wireless
Data Services; data transm ission; downloads;
incoming message notification; musi cal ring tones;
Datebook; the media center; call forwarding; the
message center; call ti mers; call alerts; and voic e
records.
Using Direct TalkSM
To set your phone to Direct Talk:
1From the main menu, sele ct DirecTalk.
2Select Go To DirecTalk.
Switching to DirecT alk Please Wait di splays.
After a few seconds, the Direct Talk idle screen
appears. The channel you are set to appears on
the first line of the display . The code you are set to
appears on the second line of the display. DT
Ready appears on the bottom of the display.
Note:When switching from the network to Direct
Talk, the last cha nnel and code that were
set appear on the idle screen.
While in Direct Talk, this icon M appears on the
display, indicating there is no network signal and
Direct Talk is active.
Exiting Direc t TalkSM
To set your phone to network mode when Direct
Talk is active:
1From the Direct Talk idle screen, press m.
