Monitoring Tape Drive Status

You can monitor the status of the tape drives in several ways:

Reading the status lights on the front of the drive

Viewing the library’s Drive Display screens

Viewing the library’s Drive Status screens

Reading the Tape Drive LED Indicators

The meaning of the status lights differ between the AIT-2 and AIT-3 tape drives. Both are illustrated and explained below.

The following table describes some of the AIT-2 tape drive LED states. For a complete listing of LED states, contact Sony. To read the LEDs you must open the library door and remove the magazine in front of the drive.

Busy (left) LED on

SCSI activity is occurring.

 

 

Tape (middle) LED on

Tape is loaded

 

 

Status (right) LED on

Cartridge is write-protected.

 

 

Tape LED is flashing

Tape is loading or unloading.

(0.25 seconds on; 0.25 seconds off)

 

 

 

Tape LED is flashing

Error has occurred.

(3.5 seconds on; 0.5 seconds off)

 

 

 

Status LED is flashing

Cleaning is required.

(3.5 seconds on; 0.5 seconds off)
