Appendix D: Dial-up Connections via Modem

A dial-up modem connection allows the user to use the remote software and receive alarm notice without a direct Internet connection. Following are the steps for establishing the connection between a DVR-4TN/8TN/16TN/16TS/16TTseries unit and a PC.

Establishing Dial-in Connection

The Dial-in function enables the user to establish dial-up modem communication to and from the DVR-4TN/8TN/16TN/16TS/16TTseries unit for the remote software use. Follow the description to set up your DVR and PC.

DVR Configuration:

Connect a USB modem to the USB socket and connect a working phone line to the modem.

Press MENU and input the Administrator password to access the OSD Main menu. Select <Network Setup> and then <Dial-in Setup> to set up the Dial-In settings, including Dial-in Account and password, etc.

For more information on dial-in settings, see section 5.1.6.3 Dial-in Setup.

PC Configuration:

Click <Start>, <My Network Places>, <View Network Connections> and then select <Create New Connection>. The New Connection Wizard is displayed. Click <Next> to continue.
