Alias Searching and Transforming
Zone transforms suppor t the use of
Regular Expressions. See the
Appendix Regular Express ion
Reference for more informati on.
Default Settings
When a new zone is created, by default
Match1 will be set to AlwaysMatch wit h a
Priority of 100. All remaining mat ches will be
set to Disabled. This means that the z one
will be queried for the original a lias, with no
transforms applied.
Configuring Zone Searches and Transforms
To configure when a zone will be searche d and
any transforms that will be appli ed before the
search request is sent:
VCS Configuration > Zones.
You will be taken to the Zones page.
Click on the zone you wish to configur e.
You will be taken to the Edit Zone page.
Scroll down until you get to the Match1
section.

You can configure up to five differ ent Matches
(i.e. search/transform combinat ions) for each
zone.

Pattern behavior

(Applies only if the Mode is Patt ernMatch.)
Determines if and how the matche d part of
the alias will be modified. Optio ns are:
Leave: the alias will not be modified.
Strip: the matching prefix or s uffix will be
removed from the alias.
Replace: the matching part of t he alias will be
substituted with the text in th e Replace String.

Pattern type

(Applies only if the Mode is Patt ernMatch.)
Determines the way in which the st ring must
match the alias. Options are:
Exact: the string must matc h the alias
character for character.
Prefix: the string must appe ar at the beginning
of the alias.
Suffix: the string must ap pear at the end of
the alias.
Regex: the string will be treated as a r egular
expression.

Priority

Determines the order in which t he zone
will be sent a search request. Zon es with
priority 1 matches are sear ched first, followed
by priority 2, and so on. More than o ne
match can be assigned the same p riority;
in this case the matches will be quer ied
simultaneously.

Replace string

(Applies only if the Mode is Patt ernMatch and
Pattern Behavior is Replace.)
Specifies the string to be us ed as a
substitution for the part of t he alias that
matched the pattern.

Pattern string

(Applies only if the Mode is Patt ernMatch.)
Specifies the pattern a gainst which the alias
is compared.
Mode
Determines if and when a quer y will be sent to
this zone. Options are:
AlwaysMatch: the zone will always b e queried.
PatternMatch: the zone will onl y be queried
if the alias queried for matches t he specified
Pattern String.
Disabled: the zone will never be que ried.
