About IPv4 to IPv6 Gatewaying
The VCS can act as a gateway between I Pv4
and IPv6 calls.
To configure the VCS to act as a gateway
between the two protocols, s elect an
IP Protocol of Both.
Configuring IP Settings
To configure the VCS’s IP settings:
System Configuration > IP.
You will be taken to the IP page.

IP Configuration

IP protocol

You can configure the VCS to use IPv4, IP v6 or
Both protocols. The default is B oth.
IPv4: The VCS will only accept regi strations
from endpoints using an IPv4 a ddress, and
will only take calls between two e ndpoints
communicating via IPv4. It wil l communicate
with other systems via IPv4 onl y.
IPv6: The VCS will only accept r egistrations
from endpoints using an IPv 6 address, and
will only take calls between two e ndpoints
communicating via IPv6. I t will communicate
with other systems via IPv6 o nly.
Both: The VCS will accept registr ations
from endpoints using either an I Pv4 or IPv6
address, and will take calls using eit her
protocol. If a call is between an IP v4-only and
an IPv6-only endp oint, the VCS will act as an
IPv4 to IPv6 gateway. It can commu nicate with
other systems via either protoc ol.

IPv4 address

Specifies the IPv4 addre ss of the system.

IPv4 subnet mask

Specifies the IPv4 subnet m ask of the system.

IPv4 gateway

Specifies the IPv4 gateway of t he system.

IPv6 address

Specifies the IPv6 add ress of the system.

IPv6 gateway

Specifies the IPv6 gatew ay
of the system.
System Conguration
The VCS is shipped with a default
IP address of 192.168.0.100. This
allows you to connect the VCS to your
network and access it via the d efault address
so that you can configure it remo tely.
Calls for which the VCS is acting as an
IPv4 to IPv6 gateway count as tr aversal
calls for the purposes of licensin g.
Some endpoints support b oth IPv4 and
IPv6, however an endpoint can u se
only one protocol when registe ring with
the VCS. Which protocol it uses will b e
determined by the format used to s pecify the
IP address of the VCS on the endpo int. Once
the endpoint has registered usi ng one
protocol, calls to it from an endpoi nt using the
other protocol will be gatewayed by t he VCS.
