Disconnecting calls

Disconnecting a Call via the Web Interface

To disconnect one or more existing call v ia the web interface:
Status > Calls.
You will be taken to the Calls page.

To disconnect an existing call using the C LI, you must first obtain eith er the call ID number or the
call serial number. Then use either o ne of the following commands as ap propriate:
xCommand DisconnectCall Ca ll: <ID number>
xCommand DisconnectCall Ca llSerialNumber: <serial number>
While it is quicker to use the call ID numb er to reference the call to be disc onnected, there is a
risk that in the meantime the call h as already been disconnect ed and the call ID assigned to a new
call. For this reason, the VCS also allows yo u to reference the call using the l onger but unique call
serial number.

Disconnecting a Call via the CLI

The call disconnection API wo rks differently for H.323 and S IP calls due to differences i n the way
the protocols work.
For H.323 calls, the Disconnect c ommand will actually disconn ect the call.
For SIP calls, the Disconnect c ommand will cause the VCS to releas e all resources used for the
call and the call will appear on the sy stem as disconnected. However, SIP c alls are peer-to-pee r
and as a SIP proxy the VCS has no auth ority over the endpoints. A lthough releasing the reso urces
may have the side-eff ect of disconnecting the SI P call, it is also possible that the ca ll signaling,
media or both may stay up (dependin g on the type of call being made). Th e call will not actually
disconnect until the SIP endp oints involved have also cleared t heir resources.

Issues when Disconnecting SIP Calls

Endpoints that support R FC 4028 [14] have a call refresh timer which shoul d cause them
to clear the resources of any hung SI P calls after a certain pe riod of time. This includes all
TANDBERG endpoints.
